Bridgeville welcomed back its mayor, four council members and its tax collector when the borough council reorganized Monday, Jan. 5.
Mayor Betty Copeland, council members Nicholas Ciesielski, Justine Cimarolli, Joseph Colosimo and Nino Petrocelli Sr., and real estate tax collector Anne Marie Parisi were sworn-in by District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet during the reorganization meeting.
Cimarolli was elected as council president and Ciesielski was named vice president.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as president of the Bridgeville Borough Council,” Cimarolli said. “As we look toward 2026, our vision is to lead with purpose — building on Bridgeville’s strengths, investing in thoughtful progress, and creating momentum that enhances quality of life, supports local businesses and strengthens our community for generations to come.”
Board appointments
Also at the meeting, council made a number of appointments and reappointments to its boards and commissions.
Law firm Gaitens, Tucceri & Nicholas, PC was reappointed as solicitor, and LSSE Civil Engineers and Surveyors was reappointed as the borough’s engineering firm.
Joseph Chabala was appointed to the zoning hearing board for a term that expires Jan. 6, 2031.
Paul Cengia and Karen Taylor were appointed to the civil service commission for terms that expire Jan. 5, 2032. Zack Braley and Rick Ruffennach were appointed as alternates to the commission for terms that expire Jan. 5, 2032.
Jen Brilmyer was appointed to the shade tree commission for a term that ends Jan. 6, 2031.
Deb Colosimo was appointed as vacancy board chair for a term that expires Jan. 3, 2028.
Manager Joe Kauer was named the borough’s representative to the governing board of the Chartiers Valley District Flood Control Authority; Petrocelli was named alternate.
Kauer was named delegate to the tax collection committee; Councilman Jason Ferri was named alternate.
Kauer, Cimarolli and Ferri were appointed representatives to the Congress of Neighboring Communities, or CONNECT, with terms that expire at the end of this year.
Other business
On Monday, Jan. 5, council also:
• Authorized a cable franchise agreement between the borough and Comcast Cable Communications Management.
• Directed the civil service commission to initiate testing and prepare a promotional eligibility list for a police sergeant position.
• Bought a custom, stainless steel dump body, snowplow, salt spreader and upfitting accessories for the new public works truck from A&H Equipment Co. at a state Costars price of $52,635.
• Paid $3,070 from the capital project fund to Merit Electrical Group to partially cover electrical improvements for the Chartiers Park shelter project.
• Authorized Municipal Advertising Consultants to prepare the 2026 borough guide.
• Entered into an agreement with Seward Johnson Work for the 2026 public art outdoor sculpture exhibition for one sculpture at Triangle Park.
• Offered employment to Jeremy Haffenden as a laborer/equipment operator.
Meetings
In 2026, council will hold its meetings the following days: Feb. 9, March 9, April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, Aug. 10, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14. Meetings begin at 7 p.m.
The parking authority will meet at 7 p.m. the third Monday of each month.
The planning commission will meet at 7 p.m. on the following days: Feb. 23, March 23, April 27, May 26, June 22, July 27, Aug. 24, Sept. 28, Oct. 26 and Dec. 7.
The zoning hearing board and the civil service commission will meet as needed.
The shade tree commission will meet at 7 p.m. on Feb. 2, May 4, Aug. 3 and Nov. 3.
