Autographed Pittsburgh sports collectibles and electronics are among items that will be available for online bidding beginning Friday , during WTAE-TV’s 36th annual Project Bundle-Up Auction.
The auction raises money to provide cold-weather outerwear for area children and senior citizens in need, through a partnership with the Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania Divisional Headquarters.
Organizers expect about 300 items to be included in the auction, among them restaurant gift cards, Steelers and Penguins collectibles and experiences at area attractions and entertainment venues.
Bidding takes place on projectbundleup.org and will conclude at noon on April 7. The public can log on to that site in advance to get more information about the bidding process and to preview weekly items that will be featured.
“Western Pennsylvania weather can be severe,” said Mike Harvey, WTAE chief meteorologist and Project Bundle-Up chairman. “Our goal is to ensure that every child or senior who needs a warm coat is provided one.”
Key Bank, Walmart, UPMC, FedEx Ground and Peoples are sponsors of the auction.
During its history, the auction has raised more than $16.5 million, providing winter outerwear for more than 300,000 Western Pennsylvanians.
