Allegheny County Police announced an arrest Monday in the shooting death of a man in Mt. Oliver in August.

Daleron Newman, 22, of Pittsburgh, is charged with criminal homicide in the Aug. 30 shooting death of Timothy Coates, 20, at Dawes and Frederick streets in the borough, county police said.

First responders found Coates in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

County police said Newman was already being held in the Allegheny County Jail on unrelated charges. Police did not say why Newman was jailed.

Newman was served with the warrant and awaiting arraignment on the homicide charge.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the county police tip line at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
