Someone has won big in McCandless, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced Jan. 7.
A $500,000 jackpot-winning Cash 5 with Quick Cash ticket from the Jan. 6 drawing was sold at Adzema Pharmacy along Perry Highway.
It was one of two tickets sold, winning a combined $1 million, that matched all five balls drawn: 3, 6, 8, 12 and 17.
The other ticket was sold at Valley Mart on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, the lottery said. Each retailer gets a $500 bonus for selling the winning tickets.
Winners are not known until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated. A main Cash 5 game prize must be claimed within one year of the drawing date. Any prizes won on any Quick Cash game must be claimed within one year of the purchase date.
More than 26,800 other Cash 5 with Quick cash tickets also won prizes in the drawing, the lottery said.
The chances of winning a Quick Cash game are separate from the chances of winning the main Cash 5 game. The overall chances of winning in a Quick Cash game are 1 in 4.71. Chances of winning the Cash 5 jackpot prize are 1 in 962,598; the overall chances of winning any prize in the main Cash 5 game are about 1 in 10.5.
