Nestled in the mountains of Carbon County, quaint little Jim Thorpe has been called one of America’s most beautiful small towns by Rand McNally, USA Today, Culture Trip and Architectural Digest.

In addition to the natural beauty, visitors come for the annual Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival, set this year for April 25-28 in the circa-1881 Mauch Chunk Opera House.

According to its website, the festival invites “the boldest, most defiant filmmakers to present their work, shatter convention and incite spirited debate.” Organizers say they seek to showcase diverse and under-represented communities by promoting work by “women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community and student filmmakers.”
