Remember when families piled into the car and took a leisurely Sunday drive along the back roads?

No? Well, then maybe it’s time to revive that tradition.

At takebackroads.com, there are suggestions for seven back-road jaunts across the Keystone State.

Of course, the Laurel Highlands Scenic Byway, traversing routes 381 and 711 from Ohiopyle to Ligonier, makes the cut, with tried-and-true attractions like Fallingwater, Living Treasures Animal Park and Fort Ligonier.

There’s also Route 403 from Kantner, Somerset County, to Marion Center, Indiana County. Stop in Johnstown to ride the Inclined Plane and check out the art galleries in the historic Cambria City neighborhood.

Other routes take in the Lake Erie shoreline, the state’s wooded northern tier, the Poconos, the Susquehanna River and the Gettysburg area.
