The nights are getting a little cooler and darkness is coming a little earlier, but summer isn’t over quite yet.

There’s still one more chance to say “Thank Goodness It’s Summer,” at the final installment of the Westmoreland Cultural Trust’s free TGIS summer concert series on Sept. 5. Jeff Perigo & Friends are scheduled to perform.

At the penultimate TGIS on Aug. 29 in the courtyard of Greensburg’s Palace Theatre, a group of Somerset fans arrived to cheer on their hometown favorite band, The Laurel.

The band also brought along a special guest — 10-year-old Allison Borek of Somerset, who wowed the crowd with her precocious musical chops.

Music is the entree at TGIS, but there’s also food and drink to please the palate.

Good eats came courtesy of Miss Meatball, the mobile catering and food truck business of classically trained chef Sara Ward. Caitrin Wilson helped with serving.

Guest bartenders were Vandye Nelson and Brian McCollum, owners of 60 Minute Missions Escape Room in Greensburg.

TGISers included John and Malinda Sherid, Teresa Baughman, Emily Balizet, Tom and Kim Ward with adorable granddaughter Josie Jane, Dennis Harrold, Laura Wallace, Pat Parsons, Gina and David Cutlip and Jon Balko.

And while the music was going on outside, WCT director of corporate engagement and events Kelli Brisbane was huddling inside with planners of the next big local music event — the Greensburg Music Fest, set to take over locations across the city on Sept. 13.
