What better way to kick off Greensburg Craft Beer Week than with Blues, Brews & BBQ?

Held Sept. 20 in the downtown Helman-Ghrist Parking Lot, the event was hosted by Westmoreland Cultural Trust and organized by Kelli Brisbane, the trust’s director of corporate engagement and events.

The blues came courtesy of the Pittsburgh-based Aris Paul Band, fronted by the winner of the 2016 WYEP Dos Equis Singer-Songwriter of the year competition for a tune called “Rambler’s Creed.”

Local brews from Four Seasons Brewing Co., Quinn Brewing Co., Sobel’s Obscure Brewery and Whitehorse Brewing Co. were poured from the Drafts Streets Beer Wagon. For those with a taste for the grape, wines were available from Bella Terra Vineyards.

And the smoky aroma of barbecue drew attendees to chow down on pulled pork, brisket, cornbread and other fare served by Grateful Smoke BBQ and Elegant Catering.

Early VIP arrivals were treated to reserved tent seating, a commemorative cup, one hour of unlimited craft beer sampling, barbecue samples and other light bites.

Seen: Jessica Hickey of the Downtown Greensburg Project, Adam Fitz, John and Malinda Sherid, Natalie Debich, Kelsye Milliron, Kim Ward, Kevin and Jeanne Bock, Jennifer Benford, Carmen and Paula Pedicone, Colleen Faddish, Lindsay Faddish and Bre Faddish.

Greensburg Craft Beer Week continues through Sept. 28 with all manner of brew-centric events at area breweries, restaurants and businesses, along with trivia, Jenga and cornhole competitions; a Sept. 25 night market at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art; a dog-friendly “yappy hour,” and much more.
