A trip to Ikea is always special.
And now it doesn’t have to end at closing time.
The Swedish furniture store is letting a few lucky members of its Ikea Family spend the night. But only at select locations — the Ikea Brooklyn (New York) and Ikea Costa Mesa (California) stores.
In marking World Sleep Day on March 13, the international chain is hosting the Ikea Swede Dreams Sleepover event. But it won’t be all shut-eye.
The sleepover — which runs from 9 p.m. until 8 a.m — will be planned out with food, entertainment, interactive games, prizes, giveaways, a Silent Disco and even movies — “in our living room.”
All that, and you get to bring a friend.
Don’t worry, Ikea says there will be time to actually sleep — “unless you plan to stay up all night long in our Insomniac Lounge.”
You can register to be one of 20 random winners through Feb. 23. However, you will need to join the Ikea Family in order to do so.
While Pittsburgh’s Ikea location won’t be one of the two sleepover spots, it will be hosting the Ikea After Dark Sleep Festival from 3 to 9 p.m. Feb. 22. The event, which will help you find new ways to save your sleep, includes workshops, games, a pillow bar, and the After Dark Selfie Bed. Guests also will be able to sample some Swedish foods and have “breakfast for dinner.”
World Sleep Day was started in 2008 by a group of health care providers looking to bring more awareness to our need for sleep and the health issues around not getting enough of it.
