Handmade Arcade will extend the holiday shopping season, hosting its first open-air market in the Peoples Gas Holiday Market site in Pittsburgh’s Market Square.
The winter market will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 28-31.
The holiday market closed for the season on Dec. 23.
According to Handmade Arcade, which is celebrating its 15th season this year, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership approached representatives about the new initiative.
The Partnership hopes to offer “traditional chalet village” shopping to those visiting the city through New Year’s Eve, according to Handmade Arcade.

“We cannot think of a better way to showcase Pittsburgh’s thriving independent craft community — and Handmade Arcade’s commitment to supporting the arts — than by filling the chalets with some of Pittsburgh’s dedicated makers,” Handmade Arcade organizers say.
New and returning artists from around Pittsburgh will fill the chalet vendor spots.
