Military service members and first responders who are planning to tie the knot will have a chance to walk down the aisle in style without busting their budget, thanks to Operation Wedding Gown.
Greensburg’s MB Bride & Special Occasion is partnering with national nonprofit Brides Across America to offer free designer wedding gowns to eligible brides as part of the “United in Love” campaign that gives back to those who have served.
Military members and first responders who have served over the past five years may request an appointment to take part in the gown giveaway July 17 at the bridal and formal wear salon on South Urania Avenue.
Visit bridesacrossamerica.com to register for the appointment-only event. Brides are required to bring supporting documentation, such as a valid work ID or proof of service.
The event will feature gowns in sizes 0-24 that are valued at up to $6,000.
Brides Across America founder Heidi Janson said she started the program because she felt “compelled to give back and make a difference for our heroes” by “spreading love and happiness.”
Through private donations and collaborations with bridal salons and designers, the nonprofit has been able to donate more than 22,000 gowns and 22 weddings, providing financial assistance to thousands of military and first responder couples, since its inception in 2008.
Brides Across America recently opened its first outlet and online shop at baaoutlet.com, where purchases support the organization’s ongoing efforts.
