A popular fast-food chain specializing in chicken fingers could be coming to Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood.
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is looking to open a restaurant at Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street in a building that formerly housed the restaurant and bar Thirsty Scholar, according to plans presented to Pittsburgh’s Planning Commission by Columbus, Ohio-based Olio Development.
Julia Doyle, public relations director for the restaurant chain, said the restaurant likely would open in late fall.
Plans called for 99 seats on the first floor, with room for storage and food service equipment in the basement.
The top two floors of the building, which house apartments, won’t be impacted by the restaurant’s renovations, said Ashley Newman, a development coordinator with Olio Development.
The restaurant chain also is slated to open a new location at The Piazza in South Fayette. The company initially had hoped that site would open early this year, but Doyle said it anticipates opening at the end of 2023.
Raising Cane’s also plans to open two other locations in the area, Doyle said. The company said it expects to open a restaurant on Summit Park Drive in North Fayette in late fall. Raising Cane’s also said it has a deal to open at a location in North Versailles, also likely in the late fall.
The fast food company, which has corporate offices in Dallas and Baton Rouge, La., operates about 700 restaurants in 35 states.
