The Cabaret Theatre is planning free readings of “Biggie, the Elf Who Didn’t Fit In” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20-21 in the Olde Main Theater, 350 Main St., Latrobe.

“The story of ‘Biggie’ centers around an elf who isn’t an elf at all. He is rather an aging, simple-minded man who wants to be an elf more than anything in the entire world,” says John Carosella, the author and Cabaret Theatre artistic director. “It centers around how elves got to be elves in the first place and why Biggie wants to be one so badly.”

About the readers’ theater format, Carosella says, “Just as children are fascinated when someone reads them a story and they can imagine it, that’s the same thing that will happen to an audience when our talented actors tell this story. The audience can just sit back, close their eyes and go on a journey with us.”

He says the play has been presented in two prior versions: “At first it was ‘The Other Side of Santa’ and then it morphed into ‘The Biggest Elf of All.’ Now it is merely ‘Biggie.’”

Event though admission is free, reservations are recommended due to the theater’s 40-seat capacity. To reserve, call 724-527-7775.
