“Songs of Hope” will fill the air on Thursday at St. Emma Retreat House in Greensburg, in a concert presented by Alabaster Productions.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on the patio of the facility at 1001 Harvey Ave.
“Our show is designed to pour hope into our audience. Music delivers a powerful energy like nothing else can,” says Alabaster founder Mary McCormack. “We love all different styles of music. This show has a light summertime vibe, with genres from swing and jazz to powerful inspirational show-stoppers.”
McCormack, a Greensburg resident who has toured across the U.S. and internationally for the past 20 years, will be joined in concert by Jessie Glover of Jeannette and Rick Reed of Brownsville.
Songs of encouragement will include “You Raise Me Up” and “Fight Song.”
McCormack’s selections will include “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “Spirit” from “The Lion King.” Glover will contribute Richard Marx’s “To Where You Are” and “This Is the Moment” from “Jekyll and Hyde.”
Also on the bill are light romantic favorites like “Fly Me to the Moon,” “When I Fall in Love” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.”
“We are so happy to be able to perform at Saint Emma’s,” Glover says. “The audience is thrilled, too. Just glad to enjoy an outdoor summer concert.”
The Alabaster trio also has performances scheduled at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 and Sept. 10 in the amphitheater at Hempfield Park.
“These are very challenging times, and we want to encourage people with music and hope to replace fear,” McCormack says. “Our souls are being starved; we’re separated and muffled with masks. We want to fill our hearts and the skies with music and remind everyone that good will prevail.”
Limited patio seating is available at the retreat house. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs. Masks will be required and social distancing will be practiced.
