It’s not deja vu: Olivia Rodrigo has a new album on the way.
The Grammy-winning pop star’s sophomore effort, “Guts,” will arrive Sept. 8, she announced Monday. The album’s lead single, “Vampire,” is set to debut Friday.
“I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait to share it with you all!” Rodrigo, 20, tweeted Monday.
“Guts” comes more than two years after Rodrigo’s debut album, “Sour,” topped charts throughout the world, including in the U.S. That album includes the hit songs “Driver’s License,” “Good 4 U,” “Deja Vu” and “Brutal.”

Rodrigo was 18 when she released “Sour,” which she co-wrote with music producer Dan Nigro. She received seven Grammy nominations last year and won three, including best new artist.
She says “Guts” is about “growing pains and trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life.”
“I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20 — it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change,” Rodrigo said in a statement to Variety. “I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully the album reflects that.”
The California-born Rodrigo rose to fame as star of the Disney+ series “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” which premiered in 2019. She served as a lead cast member on the first two seasons, then returned in a recurring role in Season 3. The musical comedy’s fourth and final season premieres Aug. 9.
Last year, Rodrigo embarked on her first concert tour, which included two shows at New York City’s famed Radio City Music Hall. She also joined Billy Joel for a surprise performance at his concert at Madison Square Garden last August. Her song “Deja Vu” references Joel’s “Uptown Girl.”
“I definitely talked about my deepest, darkest secrets and insecurities on ‘Sour’ — which is sort of strange to be like, ‘Here, you guys can have this. Anyone who wants to listen to it can listen to it,’” Rodrigo told Variety in 2021. “But it’s really empowering when it comes out, and it’s been really awesome for me to see people resonate with that vulnerability and relate to it.”
