The band Foreigner turned out hit songs including “I Want to Know What Love Is,” “Cold as Ice,” “Hot-Blooded” and “Juke Box Hero” throughout the 1970s-80s.
Right alongside was Kansas, with “Dust in the Wind,” “Carry on Wayward Son” and “Point of Know Return,” and, soon, Europe with “The Final Countdown” and “Carrie.”
All three bands will join forces for the “Juke Box Heroes 2020” tour kicking off July 9 in Albuquerque, N.M.
The tour comes to Burgettstown’s S&T Bank Music Park on Aug. 2.
Foreigner can count 10 multi-platinum albums and 16 Top 30 hits in its sale of 80 million records.
In November, the band released “Double Vision, Then & Now,” a DVD/CD package celebrating the 40th anniversary of its “Double Vision” album. It features a reunion concert bringing together current and original band members playing all the hits, according to a release.
“We can’t wait to hit the road with our good friends Kansas and Europe and bring all our biggest hits to cities across the country,” says Foreigner founding member, songwriter and lead guitarist Mick Jones.
On the road again
With a career spanning more than four decades, Kansas — a former “garage band” from Topeka — released its debut album in 1974. The band has gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide, including eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum and one platinum live albums, along with two million-selling gold singles.
The band will release its 16th studio album this summer.
“We look forward to touring with Foreigner. It has been nearly 10 years since both bands have done a full tour together. That run was a blast, and we are excited to get started this summer. The bands and the crews get along great, and we’ll all be working tougher to perform an exceptional show for the fans,” Kansas says in a statement.
With more than three decades and multiple millions of albums sold, Europe’s Joey Tempest (vocals), John Norum (guitars), Mic Michaeli (keyboards), John Leven (bass) and Ian Haugland (drums) continue to perform and produce new albums.
The band’s 11th studio album, “Walk the Earth,” was released in 2017, and won a Swedish Grammy for Best Album.
“The band is super thrilled that this summer, we’ll be back in the U.S.A. … the birthplace of rock and roll,” Tempest says.
