It’s been 27 years since the alternative rock band Cracker enjoyed a big break through on rock radio and MTV with their album “Kersosene Hat.”

It charted hit songs and videos from that disc including “Low,” “Euro-Trash Girl” and “Get Off This.”

Nearly three decades later, Cracker is still touring and heading to Harmar for a June 30 concert at Pittsburgh Shrine Center Pavilion.

Much like Steely Dan, which featured a core duo of Donald Fagen and the late Walter Becker plus a revolving cast of musicians, “Cracker” still features its core duo of co-founders David Lowery, Cracker’s lead singer and lead guitarist Johnny Hickman.

The Shrine Center Pavilion stop is part of a 15-city Cracker summer tour. It is expected to feature fan-favorite songs and deep cuts from the group’s 29-year recording career.

Lowery and Hickman are also expected to play songs from their most recent double-album, “Berkeley to Bakersfield,” which is part punk and part country.

Cracker has made numerous Pittsburgh appearances over the years. Its most recent stop was in November, 2019 at Moondog’s in Blawnox as part of the group’s “Turkey Hangover Tour.”

Prior to forming Cracker, Lowery fronted another legendary alternative band Camper Van Beethoven, which disbanded in 1990.

Cracker’s self-titled debut album included the single “Teen Angst,” which shot to No. 1 on the U.S. modern rock chart.
