Mt. Lebanon native Joe Manganiello, who recently starred in AMC+’s canceled sci-fi drama “Moonhaven,” will host NBC’s reboot of “Deal or No Deal” in 2024.

Manganiello, a 1995 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School and a 2000 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s acting program, takes over from Howie Mandel, who hosted “Deal” from 2005-08 and again in 2018-19.

In a video promoting the host change and the show’s new title (“Deal or No Deal Island”), Mandel says he can’t continue to host because he’s a germaphobe and the new format is set on a private island that may be crawling with bugs and snakes. He say’s he’s searching for someone who’s “no average joe” to replace him. The camera then pulls back to reveal Manganiello.

In the show’s new iteration, 13 players will visit the Banker’s private island for a season-long competition where briefcases are hidden all over the island with millions of dollars divvied up amongst them.

Players will vie to obtain the highest-value briefcase for a chance to gain immunity and choose another player to join them in The Temple where they will play the standard game of “Deal or No Deal.”

At the end of the season, the last player standing will face off against the Banker.

Canceled

Peacock has opted not to move forward with “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin,” instead canceling the show after a single season.

Starz canceled “Heels,” “Trainspotting” and “Run the World” after each show’s second season.
