It’s not the norm in TV news for a reporter to file her last report for one station on a Friday and then turn up reporting on a rival station a few days later.

But when a reporter is part-time and not under contract with the first station, such circumstances become possible.

Nicole Ford, seen reporting for KDKA-TV’s noon newscast on Friday, will become a full-time reporter at WPXI-TV next week. Her bio at KDKA-TV’s website had been removed by mid-afternoon Friday.

Ford, who grew up in Mars and graduated from West Virginia University, where she studied journalism, started reporting for KDKA in December 2019. Prior to that she was a reporter and reporter/anchor at TV stations in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Ford did not respond to a request for comment.
