Trib Total Media TV writer Rob Owen answers reader questions every Wednesday at TribLive.com in a column that also appears in the Sunday Tribune-Review.

Q: It is my imagination or are the KDKA-TV morning anchors color-coordinating their outfits? I’m referring to the whole team: Lindsay, David, John and Ron. The color du jour was orange on Jan. 23. On Jan. 20, it was pink shirts and maroon ties (Lindsay wore neutral colors).

— Linda, via email

Rob: Per KDKA news director Shawn Hoder, “The team talks every day and often do color-coordinate.”

Q: Why does KDKA-TV keep promoting “recent tweets” when the tweets are nine months old? They appear in self-promoting commercials during newscasts. I saw one again this evening and have been seeing the same two or three for months. Has no one tweeted anything positive since March 31, 2022?

— Bill, via email

Rob: It’s a weather promo, which is not the purview of the news department. Bill’s concern was passed along to the station’s creative services director.

Q: We thought the contract dispute between WPXI and DISH Network would have been resolved before now, and, subsequently, we have missed out on programs we have enjoyed, including “The Voice,” playoff football games, etc. What can we do other than complain?

— Tom, Blairsville

Rob: Alas, there has been no news on this particular retransmission fee spat in a couple of months. A viewer’s only recourse, if they are not under contract, is to switch cable/satellite companies. But just about every distributor seems to have these problems (I seem to hear about it least with Comcast), even online streaming platforms, so escaping from the WPXI-DISH dispute doesn’t mean you won’t encounter another one with a different cable/satellite provider.

Q: Can you tell me if Chris Fennimore and Nancy Polinsky are still making local cooking shows on WQED?

— Margo, via email

Rob: I wrote about the first new episode of “QED Cooks” since the onset of the pandemic in December. At that time, Fennimore said they plan to make more episodes, but at the moment there are none scheduled. Since 1993, WQED had done more than 150 cooking marathons.

Q: Could you please tell me where Hallmark Channel’s “The Wedding Veil Journey” with Alison Sweeney was filmed in Greece? The scenery was spectacular!

— Elaine, Mt. Lebanon

Rob: Per the film’s executive producer Beth Grossbard, exteriors were filmed in the town of Lindos on the island of Rhodes in Greece. Filming also took place at Anthony Quinn Bay on Rhodes. And the film was a rare production allowed to film in the Acropolis of Rhodes.
