After seven years of marriage, actors Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara are calling it quits.
Manganiello, a Mt. Lebanon native, and “Modern Family” star Vergara issued a joint statement to New York Post’s Page Six that they have decided to go separate ways.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives,” the statement read.
A source told Page Six that “Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
Manganiello is a 1995 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School and a 2000 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s acting program.
He and Vergara visited Pittsburgh occasionally over the years, taking in Steelers games, posting photos from Mt. Washington or touring around Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
During happier times, Vergara marveled at Manganiello’s love of the Steelers.
“I mean, obsessed is an understatement,” Vergara told Jimmy Kimmel in a 2018 interview. She said she loved joining her then-husband for games in Pittsburgh.
“I love going to games, because it’s nice to eat the hot dogs and the energy of the people,” she said. “We have a great time. I love it.”
Manganiello gained his fame through movies like “Magic Mike” and “Justice League” and the HBO series “True Blood.” Vergara has made her claim on ABC’s comedy “Modern Family.”
