Maybe it was the time difference that caught up with Michael Bolton during an interview with an Australian early morning show. Though he’s saying it was just a technical glitch.

Bolton was on-air from Florida for a live interview with Australia’s “The Morning Show” on Monday morning.

In a clip of an interview posted by host Larry Emdur to his Instagram on Tuesday, the singer appears to close his eyes while hosts Emdur and Kylie Gillies try to get his attention.

The host suggest maybe he was just checking Instagram.

Bolton says it was just a glitch; he was tweeting. He posted a response to Twitter about the segment on Tuesday, ”I got my first record deal when I was 15 and I haven’t slept since!! In all seriousness there were technical issues with the live feed and they caught me tweeting! We had a great interview once they fixed the glitch.”

There is a 16-hour time different between the east coast of Australia and Florida. So for a morning interview in Sydney it would be an afternoon in Miami.

“The Morning Show” posted a segment with an awake Bolton talking about his career and new album commemorating his 50th anniversary in the entertainment business.

The 65-year-old singer does look a little sleepy, but he powers through.
