The Pittsburgh Steelers and veteran wide receiver Robert Woods agreed to a one-year contract, according to a report from the NFL Network on Monday evening.

Woods, 33, is entering his 13th NFL season. In his prime with the Los Angeles Rams, Woods had three seasons of at least 86 catches and two with more than 1,000 receiving yards. He won a Super Bowl ring as part of the 2021 Rams.

This marks the third consecutive offseason the Steelers signed a veteran receiver who had previously played for the Rams, joining Allen Robinson in 2023 and Van Jefferson last year. All three come to Pittsburgh with solid reputations as leaders.

Woods played the past two seasons with the Houston Texans and was a member of the Tennessee Titans in 2022. He set career lows last season in catches (20), targets (30), receiving yards (203), touchdown receptions (zero) and starts (four) in 15 games.

After never having played in fewer than 70% of a team’s offensive snaps before 2024, Woods was on the field for just 37% of Houston’s snaps last season.

He joins a wide receivers corps that at the moment has two standouts at the top of the depth chart in George Pickens and recent trade acquisition DK Metcalf, with speedy Calvin Austin III the incumbent WR3 and Scotty Miller and Ben Skowronek returning depth options.

The Steelers did not draft a wide receiver this past weekend — a rarity for them to completely bypass the position — but did sign a pair of undrafted free agent wide receivers in Roc Taylor and KeShawn Williams.
