Bellevue police arrested a man who they say escaped from a hospital Wednesday after being arrested following a domestic incident and returned to his house Friday only to require a SWAT team to bring him out.

Bellvue police identified the suspect as Kristopher Connelly, 22.

According to a release from the Bellevue Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of South Bryant Avenue on Wednesday for a report of a physical domestic disturbance.

The dispatcher reported hearing banging noises and the female caller screaming for someone to leave but the dispatcher got minimal responses to questions.

Upon arrival, officers quickly located the residence because of the loud disturbance.

Police encountered the woman outside the house, who warned that Connelly was inside armed with a gun. Officers heard loud banging and items being broken inside as they approached.

When police tried to contact Connelly, police say he threatened to shoot the officers, stating they would have to kill him.

Connelly attempted to flee through a rear staircase, but he encountered officers who ordered him to show his hands and get on the ground.

Connelly, who had significant lacerations to his right hand, was taken into custody. Medical treatment was immediately provided, police said, including the application of a tourniquet.

Police say that due to the severity of his injuries and continued combative behavior, Connelly was transported to a local hospital.

While being treated at the hospital, Connelly fled from his hospital room.

Then, on Friday, Bellevue police received information that the suspect had returned to his house.

Given the previous threats involving firearms, Bellevue police called in the North Hills Special Response Team.

After multiple attempts to communicate, Connelly was located hiding in an attic crawl space and ultimately surrendered without further incident.

Connelly was taken to the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh, charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, terroristic threats (M1), harassment and disorderly conduct.
