Jahsean Corbett’s 29 points not enough as Duquesne falls to Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Jahsean Corbett had 29 points and six rebounds, but Duquesne lost 77-71 to Davidson in an Atlantic 10 game Saturday.

Maximus Edwards added nine points for the Dukes (6-9, 1-1), and Cam Crawford finished with nine points, four assists and two steals. Duquesne saw its four-game winning streak end.

Reed Bailey had 22 points and eight rebounds for Davidson (11-4, 1-1). Zach Laput scored 17 points, and Bobby Durkin finished with 13 points.

Bailey scored nine points in the first half, and Davidson went into halftime trailing 38-34. Davidson used a 13-0 second-half run to erase a three-point deficit and take the lead at 54-44 with 13 minutes, 9 seconds left in the half before finishing off the victory. Bailey scored 13 second-half points.

Duquesne played without injured starter Jakub Necas (hamstring). The 6-foot-9 sophomore is averaging 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds and ranks third on the team with six blocks.

The Dukes return home to face Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
