The Pittsburgh Pirates reunited with one of their former draft picks Thursday when they claimed infielder Tristan Gray off waivers from the Athletics.

Selected in the 2017 13th round out of Rice University, Gray was included along with reliever Daniel Hudson in the trade to acquire outfielder Corey Dickerson from the Tampa Bay Rays in February 2018.

Gray, 27, has batted .152 (5 for 33) with a double, home run and one RBI in 17 MLB games with Tampa Bay (2023), Miami (2024) and Oakland (2024).

A left-handed hitter, Gray was 3 for 21 in eight games with the A’s last season and slashed .251/.322/.467 with 25 doubles, four triples, 19 home runs and 64 RBIs in 112 games split between Triple-A Jacksonville and Las Vegas.
