The parents of a 14-month-old Charleroi boy who died in 2023 have been charged with his death, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

Brooke and Ryan Whitehead, both 32, face multiple charges in the case, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.

Brooke Whitehead is charged with criminal homicide. Ryan Whitehead is charged with child endangerment.

Police were called to Prospect Avenue on Oct. 24, 2023, for a report of a child not breathing. The boy was taken to the hospital, where he died.

District Attorney Jason Walsh said the child died of blunt force trauma to the head, torso and extremities, and showed signs of recent skull fractures and other long-term fractures.

Preliminary hearings have yet to be scheduled.
