Surveillance video and witness statements helped Pittsburgh police piece together what they believe happened in the early morning hours Monday leading to a fatal stabbing in Homewood, according to court papers.

Detectives said Raniesha Scott, 27, and Maurissa L. Plummer, 21, both of Homewood, had been arguing for hours when witnesses reported seeing Plummer chasing Scott with a knife in the neighborhood. Scott was found with a fatal chest wound inside a Lyric Street home around 5 a.m.

Investigators found Plummer inside a nearby apartment. Surveillance video from that location indicated Plummer admitted to using a pocket knife and told others inside she had been pushed, according to court papers. She was seen exiting and entering the apartment around the time of the stabbing, police said.

Two witnesses told investigators they heard people saying “drop the knife.” Plummer was arraigned Tuesday on a single charge of homicide, according to court records. She does not have a criminal record and did not have an attorney listed.

She was denied bail and taken to the Allegheny County Jail. An Oct. 25 preliminary hearing is set.
