The St. Margaret Mary Parish Festival of Friendship capped off its annual two-day fundraiser on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. on parish grounds in Lower Burrell.

A summer tradition stretching back decades, the event featured kids’ rides such as the inflatable whip and train, as well as other youthful activities. Every child was assured a prize.

For older festival-goers, games of chance including chuck-a-luck were available. There were raffles and a bake sale.

As evening approached, electric violinist Steve Vance entertained the gathering.

Jumbo franks and hot sausage, barbecued pulled chicken sandwiches, ravioli, pizza and other Italian fare were being served up to tempt palates. Candy, flavored ice, and funnel cakes were there to tempt, too.

The weather cooperated with event planners. Skies were sunny and temperature in the upper 70s during the day with no rain forecast into the night.
