Motorists can keep up with traffic advisories and construction email updates on the McKnight Road improvement project that is scheduled to begin Feb. 12.
The $25.5 million PennDOT District 11 project will affect roads in Ross and McCandless, and is expected to last until spring 2025.
Work will include bridge and culvert preservation, milling and paving, base repairs, drainage upgrades and repairs, pipe cleaning, waterline replacement, concrete mountable curb replacement, and guardrail, signal and ADA ramp upgrades. New signage and pavement markings between Venture Street and Perrymont Road are on the way, including on the Babcock Boulevard and Evergreen Road ramps to Interstate 279, according to a PennDOT project description.

Before work concludes next year, restrictions will include a 12-day closure of the Nelson Run Road interchange, two weekend closures at the Venture Street intersection, two crossovers at the Babcock Boulevard/Evergreen Road interchange, and several overnight ramp closures for paving operations and structure repairs, according to a Jan. 30 press release from PennDOT.
Improvement work will begin on McKnight Road between Venture Street and Perrymont Road weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as crews begin pipe and drainage cleaning. Motorists can expect around-the-clock single-lane restrictions throughout project in the areas on McKnight Road that have three lanes of traffic.
Left-turn lanes along the road will remain accessible unless otherwise noted. Additional details will be provided as work continues.
