During their Jan. 16 meeting, Ross Township commissioners welcomed three new police patrol officers.

Chad Green, Alexandra Lizzi and Luke Lloyd were offered the positions on Jan. 2 after they were selected by the township’s Civil Service Commission. They officially accepted and were sworn into service by Judge Sabrina Korbel at the monthly commissioners meeting.

Two more officers were excited to be formally introduced to the community, as police officers Justin Allenbaugh and Chris Shortley accompanied K9 officers Tyr and Arrow to the meeting.

Tyr has had more than 100 usages so far in his time with the department, and Arrow has been with the department since October. K9 officers Cezar and Neeko, the first to be trained by the department, retired in February after serving for nine years.

“All of our K9s have been purchased through donations and grants at no cost to the township,” said Cristyn Zett, Ross police chief.

In their retirement, Cezar lives with Officer Pete Chuberko and Neeko lives with Officer Don Sypolt.
