Taylor Swift’s widespread popularity could soon be commemorated by the Pennsylvania state legislature.

Three Democratic state representatives from suburban Philadelphia — Danielle Friel Otten of Chester County, Jennifer O’Mara of Delaware County and Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz of Berks County, where Swift grew up — introduced a resolution Friday to declare 2023 as “the Taylor Swift era” in Pennsylvania.

The resolution cites Swift’s “Eras Tour,” her economic and cultural impact, and her being named Time Magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year. Swift was born in West Reading, Berks County.

“From her humble beginnings as a teenage artist on that Christmas tree farm in Berks County, Taylor Swift is the epitome of what it means to be a Pennsylvanian,” the resolution reads.

“Through her talent, hard work and determination, Taylor Swift has transcended the role of pop star, becoming a veritable cultural and economic force. And it would be a dishonor if she were not recognized by her home state for the lasting impact she has made in her career.”

The resolution praises Swift’s charitable contributions to fighting hunger, her efforts to get more young people to vote and the economic windfalls cities on her tour experienced from the business she brought to town.

Her two Eras Tour dates in Pittsburgh this summer generated $46 million in direct spending, according to tourism agency Visit Pittsburgh.

Romo accidentally refers to Swift as Kelce’s wife

During the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, broadcaster Tony Romo, a former NFL quarterback, accidentally referred to Swift, who was in attendance at the game, as the wife of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Swift and Kelce have reportedly been a couple since August.
