A Pittsburgh man accused of shooting at state agents and a McKees Rocks police officer was apprehended in Penn Hills on Thursday.

Allegheny County Police announced the arrest of 25-year-old Eric Durah Jr., who is charged with multiple crimes stemming from a shooting incident in Stowe on Feb. 27.

Police said he was one of the people in a vehicle agents with the state Attorney General Narcotics Task force were following along Lower Benwood Avenue.

When the vehicle stopped, its occupants exited and shot at the authorities’ vehicle. No one was hurt, but a state agent and a McKees Rocks police officer who is also member of the task force returned fire.

Another state agent in another unmarked vehicle chased the vehicle out of the neighborhood onto Tunnel Way, Island Avenue, Chartiers Avenue, and West Carson Street.

Police said people in the suspect’s vehicle fired multiple rounds at the second agent’s car. The suspect’s vehicle was later recovered in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington neighborhood. No injuries were reported.

Durah is charged with multiple counts aggravated assault, criminal attempt homicide of a law enforcement officer, conspiracy, recklessly endangering another person as well as charges of tampering with physical evidence, person not to possess a firearm, firearms not to be carried without a license.

Police said Durah was taken into custody at a Penn Hills home with the help of Allegheny County SWAT and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
