Kahliel Spear averaged 27.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in a pair of home victories last week, and the Robert Morris fifth-year forward was rewarded for his effort Monday.

Spear was named the Horizon League Player of the Week after helping the Colonials to their third straight win.

He also averaged 1.5 blocks and shot 70% from the field (21 of 30) in wins over Detroit Mercy and Oakland at UPMC Events Center. Spear is averaging 16 points and 7.8 rebounds this season.

He scored 25 points in the 85-77 win over Detroit Mercy on Friday, then tallied 30 points and 11 rebounds in Sunday’s victory over Oakland.

Spear became the first Colonials player to score at least 30 points in a home game since the first round of the 2019 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT), when Josh Williams had 36 in a 98-89 overtime win over Cornell.

In his Robert Morris career, Spear has accumulated 1,015 points and 520 rebounds. He also ranks fourth all-time in career blocks (85).

The Colonials return to action at 7 p.m. Thursday when they host Northern Kentucky in a Horizon League contest.
