Leaders of a Munhall stainless steel pipe and tubing manufacturing plant plan to layoff more than 100 workers by the end of the year.

Cuts have already begun as part of a four-phase process at Ascent Tubular Products, according to a notice posted on the state Department of Labor’s website, dli.pa.gov.

Nearly 40 workers were to be let go by Jan. 11. An additional 59 employees are to be permanently laid off by Feb. 10, 11 more by March 31, and an additional six at a date to be determined.

Ascent Tubular Products is part of Illinois-based Ascent Industries Co.

Messages to the company and the Department of Labor were not immediately returned Saturday.
