A Coraopolis man has been sentenced to spend the next five years in federal prison after he was convicted of possession of child pornography.
The sentence was imposed on Christopher A. Sennett, 34, by U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon, federal authorities announced Tuesday.
Sennett was found guilty of possession of materials depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.
Officials said Sennett had 120 videos and nine still images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors. They say he had distributed one such video over “an infamous pornography website,” in September 2018.
Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Bissoon emphasized the dangerous nature of Sennett’s conduct. She stated that she hoped that Sennett would take advantage of sex offender treatment while incarcerated.
Sennett also was ordered to be on supervised released for eight years following his release from prison.
Judge Bissoon further ordered Sennett to pay a $5,000 special assessment under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, according to officials.
Assistant U. S. Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
