Lower Burrell Recruits capture 8U AYFL Super Bowl title to cap undefeated season

The Lower Burrell Recruits are champions again.

For the third time in the past four seasons, the 8U football team captured the Allegheny Youth Football League Super Bowl championship Saturday with a 40-18 victory over West Mifflin at RYFO Field in Natrona Heights.

Members of the Lower Burrell Flyers youth football organization, the Recruits have reached the Super Bowl in four straight seasons, winning in 2019, 2020 and this season.

The team finished 10-0 this season, including a semifinal victory over the Rams Youth Football Organization. The Recruits outscored their opponents 383-42.

The Lower Burrell 10U Cadets finished as the runners-up to Plum in the AYFL.

The Recruits are led by head coach Josh Pollino and assistant coaches Jared Abraham, Todd Brown, Brad Hazlett, Jared Thompson and Tony Trozzi.

The team includes Cooper Abraham, Bryce Beattie, Alexander Fry, Asante Ballard, Mal Mundy, Eli Grosick, Ethan Harris, Tristan Taylor, Deyon Donald, Mattox Namey, Aurelia Thompson, Luke Taylor, Oakley Thompson, Joe Bradley, Jaxon Anker, Camden Rowe, Xxavier Nickels, Oscar Tendick, Kyree Lane, Ashton Kemp, Big Roc Thompson and Jackson Matthews.
