Motorists waiting for slide repair work on Saxonburg Boulevard to be finished will have to wait a while longer.

The full around-the-clock road closure of Saxonburg Boulevard, between Russellton-Dorseyville Road and McClure Hill Road, has been extended through late November. Traffic will remain detoured.

During the closure, in place since early August, crews have been performing slide repair work as the water authority works to relocate a waterline.

A PennDOT press release said the extension of the closure and the detour is “due to unforeseen issues and additional work added to the project for repair.”

A posted detour south of the closure calls for the following: turn left onto Russelllton-Dorseyville Road; turn left onto East Union Road; continue left to stay on East Union Road; follow East Union Road to Saxonburg Road.

North of the closure features the same detour going in the opposite direction.
