Holden Perry singled home Seamus Burke in the top of the seventh inning, and Morrisville defeated Newton, 5-4, in the Pennsylvania Little League 8-10 State Tournament on Saturday at West Point.
It was the second time Morrisville defeated Newtown in the tournament.
Morrisville now will face Abington in the championship at 4 p.m. Sunday. Morrisville must defeat Abington twice to claim the title.
The winner will advance to Rhode Island for the Mid-Atlantic tournament.
Matthew Wolski had a double and single for the winners. Aaron Huffman was the winning pitcher, and Tyler Wexler absorbed the loss.
Junior Legion State Tournament
Shillington was a late entry into the Pennsylvania Junior American Legion state tournament Saturday at Homer City.
But it proved to Penn-Trafford it belonged.
Shillington defeated the returning state champions, Penn-Trafford, 7-3, rallying from a 3-0 deficit. Shillington scored five runs in the sixth inning and two in the seventh off Penn-Trafford relievers. Drew Sherwin blanked Shillington over five innings.
Braden Kane had a triple in the loss.
Western Regional champion Connellsville had little problem against Taney, winning 15-5.
Murrysville edged Upper Perkiomen, 6-5, behind the strong pitching of N.J. Ramchandran, who helped his own cause with two hits, and Josh Hudak, who struck out eight.
Ryan Catello hit a doubled and scored three runs, and Jonah Willochell had a doubled and scored twice. Brady Yarabinetz had a double.
Spring City defeated Homer City, 16-1.
The tournament resumes Sunday at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City.
Connellsville plays Shillington at 10 a.m., Penn-Trafford faces Taney at 1 p.m., Murrysville tangles with Spring City at 4:45 p.m., and Homer City hosts Upper Perkiomen at 7:45.
