Penn State added a big defensive lineman to its 2023 class Friday when Tyriq Blanding gave his pledge to the Nittany Lions.
The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder from Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village, N.Y. chose Penn State over Oregon, Michigan, West Virginia and Syracuse.
Blanding is rated as the top recruit in New York and is a 3-star prospect according to 247 Sports, which rates him as the 61-best defensive lineman in the country.
Penn State’s 2023 recruiting class, with 13 commitments, is ranked third in the country behind Notre Dame and Texas Tech by 247.
