Hampton Township School District showed off students’ artistic and musical talents with the Hues and Harmony Festival, opening on May 11 at the middle school.

The event began at 5:30 p.m. with an art reception in the school’s main corridors, feature multiple media, paintings, pen and ink drawings and sculptures. Parents had the opportunity to see the work their children have been doing in art classes throughout the year.

In a press release, Hampton Middle School art teacher Lisa Woods said that the goal of the event was to “celebrate the creative work and development of our student artists.”

“We aim to bring color, hope and inspiration to the community,” she said.

The music department also participated in the night, putting on a seventh- and eighth-grade band concert at 7 in the auditorium.

Elementary band director Sean Desguin said that the music department is “excited to collaborate with the art department” during the festival.

“The Hampton Township School District Music Department is looking forward to showcasing our students as they perform in our annual spring concerts,” said Desguin.

Also featured was the student-run Hampton Creates shop, through which art pieces done by students are available for purchase.

The Hues and Harmony Festival continued with concerts featuring students from fourth through 12th grades, scheduled to wrap up with the Hampton High School Spring Concert at 7 p.m. May 26. For more information, visit www.ht-sd.org/arts/music.
