Sometimes you wanna go where nobody knows your name.
That’s the come-on for a Moe’s Tavern pop-up coming to Westmoreland Crossing at Westmoreland Mall in Hempfield.
Based on the infamous dive bar from the long-running animated series, “The Simpsons,” Moe’s Pop Up is a parody food and drink experience for fans, according to Joe McCullough, founder and CEO of JMC Pop Ups LLC.
The watering hole is a timed-ticket, family-friendly fan experience that will be open May 20-30.
In addition to eating and drinking, visitors will be able to shoot some pool, try their luck with the Love Tester, sit in Moe’s office, write their punishments on the blackboard and catch some of Bart Simpson’s legendary crank phone calls.
Moe’s Tavern is one of a series of pop-ups created by JMC Pop Ups LLC, based in the Philadelphia area.
“We started doing pop-ups during the pandemic as a fun way to get people out again,” McCullough said. The pop-ups feature timed ticketing as a safety precaution.
“Moe’s was selected because I grew up with ‘The Simpsons’ … and I am a huge fan,” he said. “Moe’s is the classic dive bar with the crotchety but lovable bartender. It is iconic. It provides me, as well as our guests, to spend just a few hours inside a place that exists only in our imaginations.”
In keeping with the show’s theme, the pop-up concept has been taken to towns named Springfield when possible, including those in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Moe’s Pop Up is not associated with “The Simpsons,“ 20th Century Fox, Fox or Disney, McCullough said.
Moe’s is coming to the Greensburg area in part because McCullough’s company partners with Westmoreland Mall owners, CBL Properties, but also because the location has the appropriate Springfield vibe.
“Greensburg has an authentic small town feel, while still being a part of a larger metropolitan area,” McCullough said. “I love how Greensburg brings people together from so many areas in the state. It really feels like Springfield.”
Timed-ticket packages must be purchased in advance.
Packages start at $37 for adults and include food, photo ops and a non-alcoholic drink. Tickets for ages 7 and under are $20 and include meal and beverage. Kids under 2 are free.
Times will be 5-9 p.m. Fridays, noon-9 p.m. Saturdays-Mondays and 6-9 p.m. Thursdays.
