With three sub-70 rounds, Greensburg’s Mark Goetz chiseled out a two-shot victory at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate, an event his West Virginia team also won in a runaway.

Goetz, a fifth-year senior, shot 65, 67 and 69 to finish at 15-under-par 201 at Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.

He made 20 birdies and shot 32 on his outward nine in Round 1, building momentum from there.

The 54-hole total broke Goetz’s previous low set last year at the Mountaineer Invitational by one stroke.

Anton Albers of Little Rock finished second at minus-13.

Goetz, 23, took a four-shot lead into Wednesday’s final round. He chipped in for birdie on No. 15.

The medalist at the 121st U.S. Amateur in August at Oakmont Country Club, Goetz has three career tournament wins. Last year, he also won three matches at the Big 12 Match Play Championship.

As a senior, Goetz became the first WVU player to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

The Hannastown Golf Club member also was the first WVU golfer to earn All-America honors, earning an honorable mention from Golfweek. He also made the Division I Ping All-Midwest Region team.

The Mountaineers closed at 28-under 836, 11 better than Little Rock.
