Prior to their regular meeting on Jan. 3, the Ross Township board of commissioners held their annual reorganization meeting, swearing in three re-elected commissioners and one new commissioner.
Commissioners Chris Eyster of Ward 2, Joseph M. Leslavic of Ward 4, and Jason Pirring of Ward 6 were all re-elected and sworn in by the Honorable Judge Richard G. Opeila.
Opelia also swore in newly elected Ward 8 Commissioner Denise Rickenbrode, who won the seat in the fall election that was previously held by Franny Salachup.
Following the swearing-in ceremonies, votes were held for the positions of president and vice president of the board.
Dan DeMarco was re-elected as president and Sarah Poweska was re-elected to her position as vice president.
“It is an honor to be elected president of the board of commissioners for another year,” said DeMarco. “It was a challenge that I willingly accepted in January 2021, and 2022 looks to be at least as challenging.”
Demarco said his job is made easier by “the engagement and close attention” of his colleagues on the board as well as the “stellar job performance of our management team, and all of the employees” of the township “who provide the best local municipal government service in the region.”
Additional votes were held, and approvals were given for township manager/secretary Ronald L. Borczyk, solicitor PJ Murray, and engineers Gibson-Thomas Engineering.
