Pennsylvania on Saturday reported 4,882 additional cases of covid-19.

That makes for a seven day average of 4,318. The state’s seven-day case average has now been above 4,000 for 12 consecutive days.

Prior to that, the average remained below 4,000 since Feb. 4, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The state reported 40 new covid-related deaths. Of those deaths, 33 are from April, three are from March, one is from February, one is from January and two are from December.

Pennsylvania has a total 25,402 deaths related to the coronavirus.

There are currently 2,441 people hospitalized in the state for covid-19. The 14-day average for hospitalizations is 2,207, which is the highest it has been since the end of February.

Of those in hospitals, 511 are in intensive care units and 260 are using ventilators.

The state is reporting 1,828,141 people have their first dose of covid vaccine and 2,299,256 are fully vaccinated. These numbers exclude Philadelphia because it tracks its data independently.

The state has reported a total of 1,068,974 covid cases since the pandemic began.

Allegheny County

Allegheny County reported 372 new cases Saturday, helping to bring the seven-day average down to 402.

That’s the lowest in five days.

The seven-day average has been above 400 for eight of the past 12 days after staying well below that number for nearly all of February and March.

The county has had a total of 89,917 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.

The county added six new covid-related deaths to bring the total to 1,813, according to the Allegheny County Health Department. Three of the deaths are associated with long-term care homes. Dates of death ranged from Dec. 14 through April 7 with three of the deaths occurring in April. One person was in their 60s, two were in their 80s and three in their 90s.

Allegheny has 276 patients hospitalized for covid-19 with 77 of those in intensive care units and 29 using ventilators. There have been a total of 6,175 covid-related hospitalizations in the county.

The county has 217,167 people with their first dose of covid vaccine and 269,239 fully vaccinated.

Westmoreland County

Westmoreland on Saturday reported an additional 118 covid-19 cases, in line with the current seven-day average of 116 cases.

The county has 42 people hospitalized with covid-19. Twelve of those are in intensive care units with eight using ventilators.

The current 14-day average number of hospitalizations is 30, a number trending upward for the past 10 days.

Westmoreland reported no new covid-related deaths for a second day, so its total remains 712.

The county reported 53,450 people received the first dose of covid vaccine and 70,681 are fully vaccinated.
