Though the weather forecast sees possible snow showers on Thursday, the North and South Park golf courses will reopen to the public that day. (The weekend should be sunny.)

The Allegheny County Parks Department announced Tuesday that, following annual maintenance and aerating, golfers can hit the links on April 1. Daily operating hours are 6 a.m. to dusk with regular season fees.

The Parks Department said that covid mitigation measures are in effect. Restrooms will be open, but shower facilities will remain closed.

Golfers are also urged to wear a face mask in and around clubhouses, use a debit or credit card instead of cash, walk the course if possible and maintain at least six feet of distance from all players and staff on the course.

In addition, players are asked to carry hand sanitizer in their golf bags, leave flag sticks in when they putt, avoid picking up other players’ golf balls, and refrain from shaking hands or giving high-fives.

Concessions at both courses will be open seven days a week serving beer, hot dogs, chicken fingers and fries, chips, soft drinks and snacks. Limited indoor seating will be available and masks must be worn when customers are not actively eating or drinking.

Senior golf permits for those age 60 and older for the 2021 season can be purchased online at www.alleghenycounty.us/parkpasses or in person at the North and South Park clubhouses from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. The cost is $80 for county residents and $100 for non-residents.

Disabled veterans with identification cards can buy golf permits at the clubhouses from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. The cost is also $80 for residents and $100 for non-residents.
