After starting the first four games and averaging the fourth-most minutes on the team, Duquesne junior guard Lamar Norman Jr. has decided to transfer.
He announced his decision on Twitter about two hours before the Dukes were scheduled to play Davidson on Tuesday at La Roche.

“Lamar is one of the best kids in our program,” coach Keith Dambrot said after the 61-48 loss. “It kind of caught me by surprise, although I didn’t think he looked emotionally engaged over the past couple weeks. I just thought he was going through some tough things.
“I thought he should have stayed until the end of the year and then if he wanted to go somewhere, fine. That’s kind of what I would have told me own son. `Finish your job and then go.’
“But I like Lamar Norman. He’s a nice kid, quality kid. Guys have to do what they think is best for them.”
Norman started 25 games over his two-plus seasons at Duquesne, including all 18 Atlantic 10 games last season and four this season for the Dukes (2-2, 1-1). His scoring average rose from 4.8 points per game as a freshman to 6.1 last season. He scored a total of 20 points in four games this season while shooting 23 percent from the field.
Norman, a 6-foot-3 guard from Grand Rapids, Mich., averaged 23 minutes per game, trailing only teammates Marcus Weathers, Sincere Carry and Tavian Dunn-Martin in that category.
