The annual Farm-to-Table Harvest Dinner at the Loyalhanna Watershed Farm is changing its format this summer, offering an al fresco and a la carte experience.

Past dinners have been served family-style at the farm’s Nimick Family Education Center. Executive Director Susan Huba said covid-19 social distancing guidelines prompted the Loyalhanna Watershed Association to move this year’s event outdoors, for picnic-style dining in the field just west of Ligonier where the Ligonier Country Market is held on Saturday mornings.

Instead of a single caterer, she said, “We are having several vendors from the market prepare their signature foods. We’re still connecting people with locally sourced food.”

Diners will purchase food and beverage items individually from vendors including Pleasant Lane Farms, Sobel’s Brewery, Beth’s Cookies, Connections Cafe, Stateside Vodka, Gosia’s Pierogies, Laurel Mountain Lemonade and Sand Hill Berries.

Musical entertainment will be provided by acoustic artist Wayne Shaffer from 5-7 p.m. and the Cash Out Band from 7-9 p.m.

Those attending should plan to bring their own blankets or table and chairs. A limited number of canopy tents with seating for six can be reserved for an extra charge of $20.

Visit farmtopicnictableharvestdinner2020.eventbrite.com for tickets to the dinner. To comply with state pandemic directives, only 220 tickets will be available.

A $5 admission and parking fee will raise money for free community education programs provided by the watershed association.
