The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley will take a trip back to 1969 for its 19th annual Garden Party.
“Woodstock: An Evening of Peace, Love and Music” is planned for 5 p.m. Aug. 8 at the museum, 1 Boucher Lane, Ligonier Township.
The event will feature Woodstock-themed food served by Ligonier Country Club, live music by Acoustic Fingers, silent auction, 50/50, games of chance and henna tattoos.
Guests also will have the opportunity to view two special exhibitions.
“In Search of Beauty with a Brush: Robert Bowden” will be featured in the main gallery. Bowden, a Pittsburgh-based artist known for his urban landscapes painted en plein air, will be present to greet visitors and discuss his work.
The second exhibition, “50 Years of Woodstock: The Collection of Mark Del Costello,” includes authentic music posters featuring musicians like Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead, who played the original 1969 Woodstock music festival at Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, N.Y.
“We have all been cooped up at home and are really ready to get outside and enjoy one another’s company in a safe and healthy manner,” says site coordinator Kristin Miller. “So, dust off those bell bottoms, leather vests and love beads and join us for a night to remember.”
