Power has mostly been restored after the remnants of Tropical Storm Cristobal rolled through the region Wednesday evening.
West Penn Power reported Thursday that a power grid was shut down, affecting a large portion of the Elizabeth Township, because of numerous utility lines that were down and other storm-related power issues.
As of 9:25 p.m. Thursday, the company listed outages affecting 420 Allegheny County customers, down from 2,327 early Thursday morning and 4,579 late Wednesday night.
Most of the affected customers are in Elizabeth Township.
There were less than five West Penn Power customers without service in Westmoreland County on Thursday evening. That’s down from 287 Thursday morning, and 654 Wednesday night.
Most of the affected customers in Westmoreland County were in Rostraver, North Huntingdon and Monessen.
West Penn Power estimates full restoration by late Thursday night.
Duquesne Light reported 391 customers affected by outages as of 8:45 p.m., down from 3,744 Thursday morning and 8,401 Wednesday night.
Trees and power lines toppled, causing damage in several Southwestern Pennsylvania communities.
West Leechburg and Elizabeth Township were among the hardest-hit areas.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh reported that its radar briefly detected a tornado debris signature in Ohioville, in western Beaver County.

A debris signature almost always signifies a tornado, but NWS officials Thursday said they couldn’t confirm the existence of a twister until they inspect the damage.
In Elizabeth Township, a downed tree collapsed the roof of a home in the 200 block of Mohawk Drive and a tree fell into a house in the 500 block of Scenery Drive, Allegheny County authorities said.
